This week (15th-21st June 2026)

Trains are running on Sunday for Father’s Day

Give your Dad the treat of a trip behind a real steam locomotive to Kemsley Down and then a footplate ride on the locomotive with the driver and fireman. Driver Tim will show him how it all works.

You can then head over to the Footplate Café for some refreshments, explore Kemsley Down, the museum and shop before returning to Sittingbourne Viaduct. We recommend two hours for your visit as there may be a queue of Dads waiting for a footplate ride.

Timetable

  • Trains depart Sittingbourne Viaduct at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm & 4pm
  • Trains depart Kemsley Down at 1.35pm, 2.35pm, 3.35pm & 4.45pm
  • Footplate rides will be at the driver’s discretion and is subject to a very limited period of time while the train is at Kemsley Down.

Next weekend is the Steam & Beer Music Festival – the website has been updated with the bands, timetables and the provisional beer list (this is what has been ordered).
