This week (13-19th April 2026)

Trains will be running on Sunday as it is Behind the Scenes Day

Trains will be hauled by steam locomotive ‘Premier’, the journey takes 15 minutes each way. A return journey can take as little as an hour but you are welcome to return on a later train – we recommend at least two hours for your visit.

At Kemsley Down, we will have guides showing you around different parts of the site, such as the engine shed, and explaining what we are working on and our plans for the future. Some tours will take place between trains and length and frequency of tours will depend on numbers.

This is a great opportunity to see how our small band of volunteers keep the Railway running.

This will also be your last chance to ride the rails for three weeks as we will be closed for essential maintenance. Trains should start running again on Sunday 17th May – Viaduct Reopening Day.
