Santa Specials are running again this weekend. You can see below how the bookings are going, if you would like to travel this weekend but haven’t booked yet, then please make sure you do by Friday as we will not be taking telephone bookings for this weekend on Saturday or Sunday.

The last train of the day is the least popular for bookings but it is your only chance, other than the late trains during Steam & Beer, to travel on the trains in the dark – this gives you a completely different outlook on the Railway.

You can book your Santa Special trips now, availability is shown below (green = good availability, orange = train filling up and red = train full):

• Saturday 9th – 11am, 12pm, 2pm & 3pm
• Sunday 10th – 11am, 12pm, 2pm & 3pm
• Saturday 16th – 11am, 12pm, 2pm & 3pm
• Sunday 17th – 11am, 12pm, 2pm & 3pm
• Saturday 23rd – 11am, 12pm, 2pm & 3pm

Call 01795 428269 or download the booking form – fares are £13 for over 3s and £10 for under 3s. Children receive a present from Santa (there will be a selection to choose from), everyone else gets seasonal refreshments. This year, steam locomotive Leader will be operating the Santa’s Special trains (subject to availability). A round trip takes approximately two hours.

Please note that we will not be able to process bookings after the Friday of the weekend you are booking, i.e. you won’t be able to book this Sunday’s trains after Friday.

There are no more formal Work Weekends until January. On Wednesdays, our Gardening, Carriage & Wagon and Permanent Way (track) maintenance teams meet to work on various projects. The Permanent Way return on Sundays. The Locomotive Engineering team meet regularly but it is best to email info@sklr.net for the dates they will be on site.
