Welcome to Dan’s page

Dan is our Writer In Residence for 2025/26, he is funded by Ideas Test on behalf of the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway. An experienced writer in residence, he is tasked with seeing the Railway through a different lens and to help us share the Railway with people who may not have considered it as worthy a visit before.

Here’s an interview with Wayne, from Ideas Test, and Dan, discussing the progress so far.

You will be able to meet both Dan and Wayne at our Railway 200 Gala Weekend on 27 & 28th September.

On Sunday 14th September, we ran a special train for Dan and his guests – writers, artists, poets and performers to have a ride and explore Kemsley Down. We look forward to seeing them back at the Railway soon.

In August, Dan joined us at the One:One Collection for the Hornby Factory Open Weekend. It was the public’s first chance to see the Railway’s second locomotive, ‘Leader’, which is on loan to the future museum.
