This week (21st-27th October)

This weekend is a Work Weekend and there’s lots to do! We have to prepare for Father Christmas’ arrival at the end of November for the Santa Specials, ready the base for our new accessible toilet building, carry out maintenance and repairs to the buildings, locomotives and carriages.

A Works Train will be leaving Sittingbourne Viaduct station at 10am, returning at about 4pm, on Saturday and Sunday. Lunch will be provided as the work is at Kemsley Down.

Everyone’s welcome to come along to help out, just make sure you wear clothes suitable for the weather and that you don’t mind getting dirty. One of the big tasks will be moving rubble from behind the Footplate Café to the toilet block, if you’re feeling strong!

Work will also be carried out on Wednesday – our Carriage & Wagon and Gardening departments will be busy working on maintenance, if you’d like to join them, email info@sklr.net and we’ll arrange for you to be met at Kemsley Paper Mill car park as a Works Train will not be running.

Passenger trains return for Santa Specials on Saturday 30th November, then every Saturday & Sunday until Christmas. Pre-booking is essential to ensure we have enough food and presents to go round.

Our 2020 Season timetable is being finalised but we are expecting to reopen on Sunday 5th April.
