Four Days of Steam

Sittingbourne’s Steam Railway reopens for the 2017 Season today (14th April) with Four Days of Steam over the Easter Weekend.

Steam locomotive Melior, built in 1924, will depart Sittingbourne Viaduct station hourly from 11am until 4pm daily Friday to Monday.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before departure time to buy your tickets for the journey. Pre-booking is not available.

The journey takes around 15 minutes and has a mix of industrial views, as the train passes over the 100-year old Milton Regis Viaduct, ano rural when the train is passing through Milton Creek Country Park.

The train takes you right into Kemsley Paper Mill, Britain’s largest, to our main station of Kemsley Down.  Here you will find our museum, shop, Footplate Café, picnic areas, ride-on railway and garden railway.

Whilst it is possible to make a return trip in an hour, it is recommended that you allow at least two hours for your visit if you would like to participate in the activities at Kemsley Down:

  • Friday – plant a plant to take home
  • Sunday – Easter Egg Hunt
  • All Four Days – Wheels of Time

Return fares are: £7 for adults, £5 for concessions, £3 for children aged 3-15, under 3s go free and £19 for a family (2 adults and up to 4 children). Other fares are available. Well behaved dogs are welcome too.

We look forward to seeing you over the Easter Holiday – don’t forget that members get free travel all season (this also reduces the admission to Steam & Beer and Santa Specials) as well as our quarterly magazine – The New Bogie – and the opportunity to help us run the Railway.
