This week (15th-21st June)

It’s another busy weekend – it’s Carnival Day in Sittingbourne on Saturday, also an SOS Film Night, and we’re running trains on Sunday. .

The Away Sales Team will be representing the Railway in the High Street, Sittingbourne, ahead of the carnival parade in the afternoon. we have a decorated car in the parade with members handing out leaflets and collecting money for the Sittingbourne Carnival Committee.

In the evening, the SOS Film Night will feature Sean Connery as James Bond in ‘From Russia with Love’ which sees James Bond willingly fall into an assassination ploy involving a naive Russian beauty in order to retrieve a Soviet encryption device that was stolen by SPECTRE. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start – this is the Blu-Ray version of the movie so it should be superior to the original cinema release. All tickets cost £5 and can be purchased from the Box Office at The Avenue Theatre (Central Avenue, Sittingbourne, Kent, ME10 4DN), online or on the door on the night. All profits from the ticket sales will go to the Railway’s SOS Campaign and profits from the bar go to the theatre which is also a registered charity.

The usual train service is running on Sunday, trains are departing Sittingbourne Viaduct station every hour, on the hour 1pm-4pm. A round trip takes about an hour but you are welcome to stay longer and return on a later train so you can also enjoy our Footplate Café, shop, museum, wildlife gardens, picnic area etc.

Fares are: £6 for adults, £3 for children (aged 3-13), £4 for concessions and £17 for families (2 adults and up to 4 children). Special fares apply for Steam & Beer in July. Other fares, such as single and day rover, are available.
